Jackson—CubeCom is on the move again, and that means more employees will fit into ever smaller spaces while company executives claim that fewer people will be in ever wider spaces. The paradox is achieved with the help of Space Consultants to combat spatial issues.
“Many corporate businesses aren’t properly utilizing all available space,” says Consultant Mo Spacey. “One of our former clients had leased over 36,000 square feet of office space, and we were able to reduce their spatial needs down to a mere 500 square feet by utilizing overlooked space that can be found inside of file cabinets and underneath desks. For example, there is approximately one foot of square space available for paper inside the ordinary office copy machine. Most offices aren’t going to keep their copy machines completely full of paper at all times. With Space Consultants, we maximize that wasted space by allocating it as office space for employees. We make room. We save money. It’s a smart way of doing business.”
Spacey says that wasted space can be reclaimed from inside computer hardware, overhead cabinets, trashcans, and underneath conference room tables. “Some space is changeable, like a cache. You might not have it available at all times, but some of the time it’s there. We can still use that space, because, logically, it’s still there. Like the old adage, the glass is half full, or the glass is half empty. You’ve got the whole glass. Use it.”
“The average ceiling is 11 feet high. Most employees are 6’5” and under. That’s almost 5 feet by every-how-many square feet of wasted space. Think of the possibilities!” Mo ponders.
CubeCom has managed to reclaim 400% of its office space from being wasted. “In trashcans alone, there are approximately 1000 square feet of space. Cut this up into cubicles, and you have room for 27.7777 employees. We could squeeze all of Systems Engineering into trashcans.”
What about hallways and passages between cubicles?
“We believe in the concept that most Americans work better when cornered like a rat in a trap,” says Spacey. “We don’t need hallways or passages between cubicles. Give ‘em some shredded paper and a bowl of kibble. They’re here to work, not to just feel good about themselves. That’s what’s wrong with America today.”
